Proven Results Powered by Accurate Inventory

Our technology has delivered real value in a number of critical business areas to a variety of large, enterprise companies

Reduce costs

A major global bank had an upcoming review of a three year ELA with Microsoft. Using iQSonar they were able to prove that the actual number of machines on the network (over 120,000) was 17% less than previously assumed. The associated cost savings were over $4,000,000 per annum.

A DBA at a small insurance company manually completed an Oracle license declaration that included over $3,000,000 worth of database options. Before settling with Oracle, they realized that although the database options declared were installed, they were not actually in use. iQSonar delivered a complete, accurate inventory of the Oracle software deployed on the network that was accepted by Oracle thereby saving the customer over $2,500,000 on the database options which had been declared incorrectly.

Minimize risk

A global organization with more than 700,000 employees, operating in more than 30 countries experienced a dramatic rise in vendor audits from 2009 onwards, with 8 audits from different vendors in 2010 alone. In the 4 vendor audits since iQSonar was implemented, the customer has only had to pay $95,000 in settlements for unbudgeted, unexpected license and support fees compared with more than $12,000,000 in settlements
from the audits before iQSonar provided visibility and control over their virtual and physical servers, the deployment of software and their license requirements.

A small Telco customer with a 350 server data center provided iQuate with a manual declaration of their Oracle license position on which they listed 34 Oracle servers. iQSonar identified several issues with this. The
number of servers running Oracle was understated by 12, their Sun M5000 servers were soft partitioned rather than hard partitioned and the database options in use were listed incorrectly.

This equated to a $13,000,000 exposure at list prices. Following the inventory, the customer was able to reach an agreement with Oracle for just $250,000.

Improve security

A major oil producer had received a negative marking in a security review. Several applications had default and easy-to-guess SQL Server passwords in place. Using iQSonar the customer can now test all SQL user passwords to ensure compliance with required security protocols.

iQSonar’s agentless inventory technology helps several customers identify those devices on their networks which do not have business critical software installed, such as anti-virus software, backup software, etc. This has helped improve security and highlight areas of risk.

Improve ROI on existing investments

A major multi-national had made significant investment in a fully featured IT service and cost management tool from a major vendor. Unfortunately, inherent weaknesses in this tool’s discovery capability presented the customer with real difficulties in reconciling software investments as it was unable to deliver accuarate details around areas such as virtualization, MS Cluster Services, SQL Server and Oracle configuration. iQSonar integrated with the existing tool to provide the accurate, complete discovery capability that had previously been missing.
