Templates

 

Description

Templates allow for the retrieval of custom scan data. Custom templates can be created and associated with individual scans. Information can retrieved from the following areas:

 

  • Bios
    • Contains bios information such as the computer serial number, bios version and manufacturer
  • Codec File
    • Contains information on the codec installed on a computer. Codec's convert one media format type to another, typically a compressed format to an uncompressed format.
  • Computer System
    • Contains information about the computer such as its domain, current user, model, manufacturer, RAM and system settings (power, startup and roles).
  • Desktop
    • Contains information on the desktops currently installed. Information is available on the screensaver, desktop dimensions and the wallpaper.
  • Environment
    • Details system environment variables. Variable details that can be retrieved are the name, description and value.
  • Logical Disk
    • Contains information on the disks available on a computer such as size, name, serial number and free space.
  • Network Adapter Configuration
    • Contains the configuration of enabled network adapters in a computer. IP and DNS specific information is available for each adapter.
  • ODBC Data Source Specification
    • Contains information on any data sources (DSN) installed on a computer. Information such as name, data source and description is available.
  • Operating System
    • Contains information about the Windows Operating system such as the name, version, licensing information (Organization, Registered User), performance information (Free Physical Memory), and service pack.
  • Physical Media
    • Contains information on physical storage devices such as tape and cd-rom drives. The name, model, description and device specific information is available
  • Physical Memory
    • Contains information on the physical memory located in a computer. Information such as capacity, data width (speed), description, manufacturer, model and serial number is available.
  • Printer
    • Contains information on the printers currently available on a computer. Information such as name, location and comments/description are available and printer specific details such as paper size, status and capabilities.
  • Process
    • Contains information on the processes currently running on a computer. Information such as process name, process id, command line and performance details.
  • Processor
    • Contains information on the processors in a computer. Device specific information such as processor architecture, cache size, clock speed, stepping and manufacture is available.
  • Quick Fix Engineering
    • Contains information on patches applied to the operating system. Name, description, hot fix id and installation details are available.
  • Service
    • Contains information on the service currently running on a computer. Details such as service name, description and startup information are available.
  • Share
    • Contains information on the shared resources on a computer. This may be a disk drive, printer, inter-process communication, or other shareable devices. The following information is available name, path, status and description.
  • Software Feature
    • Contains specific information for the different components of and application. Information on application usage, name and install date is available.
  • Video Controller
    • Contains details on the capabilities of the video controllers on a computer. Information such as the current settings (refresh, resolution etc.), maximum settings, device name, description and available memory are available.
  • Installed Software
    • Contains information on the software that is currently installed on a computer. Application name, version and install date are available.

 

Some of the above areas or their properties may be OS or computer specific. This is not a complete list of the features available within iQNetScan.

 

How to use

To create a template enter in the name you wish to use in the top drop down list and use the '+' button to save the template. You can also select the template you wish to copy to help speed up the creation of the template. When you add a template it will be automatically selected in the 'View or Edit' area. You can now select the properties you wish to retrieve from your scan.

 

Clicking 'apply' will save any changes.
